Bühler Group has announced a leadership transition within its Grains & Food business, effective January 1, 2026.

After ten years at the helm, Johannes Wick will step down as CEO of Bühler’s Grains & Food business at the end of 2025. Wick, who joined Bühler in 2014, will move into a new strategic role within the company. He will be succeeded by Mike Häfeli, who returns to Bühler as CEO of Grains & Food and Member of the Executive Board.

During his decade-long tenure, Wick oversaw significant growth and transformation within the business. Bühler expanded its global market share, introduced new ventures, and delivered strong financial performance under his leadership. Wick also strengthened Bühler’s innovation portfolio across grain processing, alternative proteins, chocolate, and confectionery products. He guided the development of strategic collaborations with Imdher in Mexico, Endeco in Germany, and Premier Tech in Canada and China. In addition, he was instrumental in launching ventures in nut de-bacterization and grain puffing.

Stefan Scheiber, CEO of Bühler Group, acknowledged Wick’s contributions: “Johannes Wick has been a driving force behind Bühler’s transformation in the Grains & Food business. His strategic vision, deep industry expertise, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy. We thank Johannes for his exceptional leadership and contributions to Bühler’s success.”

Incoming CEO Mike Häfeli brings extensive experience from both Bühler and the wider food industry. Häfeli began his career with Bühler more than 30 years ago as an apprentice before earning his degree as a mechatronic engineer. He went on to hold several leadership positions, including Vice President Automation in North America and, from 2015 to 2023, Head of Bühler’s Grain Quality & Supply business. Most recently, he served as CEO of the Eisberg Group and Member of the Executive Board of the Bell Food Group.

Commenting on Häfeli’s appointment, Scheiber said: “We are equally excited to welcome Mike Häfeli back to the company. His broad experience and leadership across both Bühler and the wider food industry make him the ideal successor to lead Grains & Food into its next chapter of innovation and growth.”

With this transition, Bühler positions its Grains & Food business for continued expansion and innovation, building on the foundations established over the past decade.
